Meet The Chef

Chef Michael Whitfield has a distinguished talent for preparing great tasting food spanning across a broad spectrum of cuisines. He developed a passion for cooking and entertaining at a young age, while watching his mother prepare meals on a daily basis, and assisting her with family-style cooking during the holidays. The many generational recipes that were shared with him from his mother became the foundation of the Whitfield experience today. As the years progressed, so did Michael’s love for culinary arts so he decided to take a leap of faith and launched Whitfield Catering & Events LLC in 2019.

 

Chef Mike has created a multifaceted business which includes; Meal Prep Service, The Strive for Five Seniors and Single Families Program, a catering on the GO Food Service, event planning, traditional catering, as well as the Culinary Institute Entrepreneurship Program. The Culinary Program provides the opportunity for individuals between 7-21 years of age the chance to receive; intense culinary training, business & financial planning, and employment opportunities. He recognizes the importance of intergenerational empowerment in business and intends for the next generation to reciprocate the same idealism to the generations behind them.

 

Chef Mike has collaborated and coordinated countless initiatives on the philanthropic level. He was called to assist the World Central Kitchen and Chefs for America with the likes of Chef Jose Andres to serve over 250,000 meals to the Bedford Stuyvesant community of Brooklyn. He launched the Strive For Five Program in March of 2020 in the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which till this day, continues to serve 500 individuals and families every Saturday in Brooklyn.

 

With his skills, catalog, and repertoire expanding, Chef Mike has catered on the corporate level for; The American Stock and Transfer, Bridge 26 Event Space, The New York City Department of Education and the likes of other major corporations, companies, and celebrities.
